What is Eldmyr?

Beyond the village lies the forest, and in the forest lives everything your grandmother warned you about. Step into a hand-built world of Nordic folklore where your choices shape the journey, and communities remember what they have witnessed.

The world

Trolls, mist and mire β€” painted like a Bauer fairytale. The village, the black lake and the old mine are built by hand, with histories, dangers and encounters that respond to how your journey unfolds.

The characters

Companions with wills, weaknesses and opinions of their own about your plans β€” or make a character from scratch. The game master remembers who you are and plays accordingly. As for the humour, they supply it themselves.

How it works

Write what you want to do and see where the story leads. No rules to learn beforehand. You start with credit from us, then see the cost in Swedish kronor before you play on.

Features

A game master who listens

Describe what you do. The game master answers with the next part of the tale, carrying forward your choices and what the world has seen. The journey has a direction, but no dialogue to follow word for word.

The World of Eldmyr

The village of Eldmyr stands at the forest's edge. Old Maja, the blacksmith BjΓΆrn and his children are missing. Something is moving by the mine. You've only just arrived, and no one wants to go there alone.

Eldmyr Village

A small settlement at the forest's edge, where brave souls gather before venturing into the unknown.

Troll Cave

Deep beneath the mountain, something ancient stirs. Few who enter return unchanged.

Dark Forest

Ancient trees whisper secrets to those who listen. But beware β€” the forest has its own agenda.

Black Lake

Still waters hide forgotten depths. The lake remembers what the world has forgotten.

Unique characters

The truly unique thing about Eldmyr is that you can create a character entirely your own. Describe who you want to be β€” a brave smith's apprentice, a cowardly bard, a cat convinced it's a general β€” and the storyteller brings them to life with a face, a voice and a place of their own in the tale. No one else plays quite yours.

Some of the people you may meet

GrisaStina

GrisaStina

Baker

Bakes bread sturdy enough for self-defence. Has opinions on all your plans, especially the bad ones.

SnorBosse

SnorBosse

Necromancer

A grumpy old man with a runny nose and a knack for resurrection. He's never satisfied β€” but he always comes back.

Ville the Wight

Ville the Wight

Wight

Small of stature, big of mouth. Ville knows every path, stone and shortcut in the forest β€” and will happily remind you that you took the wrong one. Kind when it counts, sour just in case.

How the game is built

We built Eldmyr's village, forests, characters and adventure by hand. As you play, an AI-driven story engine improvises within that world and can create text, scene images and narration. The visual language draws on the mood of John Bauer and Arthur Rackham. You start with credit from us; after that, the cost is shown in Swedish kronor before you play on.
